Two Funerals and a new project

I apologize for not posting in a long time but last year I lost both my parents in a six month window.

I am dealing with grief while handling their wishes from the trust.

Here’s an update of my latest project, Lee’s Lesson (Ditch Lane Diaries 4) by D. F. Jones releasing late this year.

Lee’s Lesson prologue starts during the epic battle scene in book three of Sandy’s Story then Chapter one begins in 1950, the day she meets her warrior angel, Erinelle. Lee is he matriarch of The Chosen of Campbell Ridge. Her narrative delves further into her role as one of the Chosen. Her relationship with Harry Glenn is filled with humor, conflict and loads of love.

Luc is disgusted with The Creator when he learns Lee Campbell possesses all the divine gifts of the angels and makes it his mission to destroy her.

Lee Lesson (Ditch Lane Diaries 4) brings full circle the six thousand year angelic war.

Will she survive the battle for her life?

Cover and preorder will reveal soon.

Hands of the Healer by Allie Marie

Hands of the Healer: The Christmas Emerald (The True Colors Series Book 4) By Allie Marie

Description

Clothiste’s Inn. Charming—or haunted?

Lt. Commander Kirby Lawrence, down-to-earth Navy physician, doesn’t believe the rumors of supernatural events or ancestral ghosts long associated with the newly-remodeled Bed and Breakfast. Even the discovery of old family jewels and a buried skeleton can be explained.

He may soon have to rethink his denial of paranormal activity, however. His heirloom emerald ring pulses and glows on his finger. And he can’t forget the image he once saw in an antique mirror at the inn. The face that stared back at him wasn’t his reflection.

Unexpected events thwart his every attempt to pursue answers. When he at last stands before the old mirror again, he comes face-to-face with his colonial ancestors in the midst of the American Revolution.

Trapped in an 18th century race against time, Kirby faces the deadliest troubles imaginable, unsure how he will return to his own time, or to the woman he left behind.

If he survives.

My Review

“His gaze remained locked on the shimmering mirror. The hands of the clock just below whirled backwards, passing each other over and over. The single peal seemed to last for minutes. The reverberation pierced his ears, the jangle coursing from his head to his feet. He thundered forward, hand outstretched to the ghost-like face he saw appearing through the vacillating glass.”

I love books with supernatural and time travel twists!

I read the Hands of the Healer: The Christmas Emerald (The True Colors Series Book 4) with anticipation and the author delivered with suspense, paranormal, and time travel with romantic elements.

Out of the four books, The Hands of the Healer is my favorite. I’m a huge fan of the author’s writing style, and how she’s able to evolve the characters, Stephanie and Kyle, Terry and Mary Jo from the series into the Kirby’s plot. The author detail descriptions of the family history and how it relates to events in America’s history thrills the most avid fan of genealogy. Me.

Personally, I would recommend reading the series in sequence. From the author’s debut novel, Teardrops of the Innocent, to the current novel draws the reader into a rich setting; a page turner.

I give the Hands of the Healer, five stars!

Carlton walked through the bustling festival reminiscent of the Renaissance.

Along the hillside, mage members set up camp with elaborate tents for the week long event. Torches dotted the landscape casting a buttery glow while the smaller tents and booths decorated the Glen offering wares and services from spells to silks to jewel encrusted wands and swords.

A wide array of flavors and aromas wafted throughout the main drag along with a variety of specialty drinks and brews for the revelers.

Magic games and challenges added to the fun. Witches and wizards wore colorful costumes with family crests.

Carlton spotted the young and beautiful Jasmine, the fortune teller under a bright red and gold tent with yards and yards of multi-colored fabric draped at the entrance.

Her silky black hair draped her shoulders, and her green eyes seemed to glow in the night.

He inwardly groaned at the thought of kissing her delectable lips as red as wine so full and sensual.

He watched as she hypnotically weaved a tale of enchantment to the mortals sitting in front of her.

Someone touched his elbow, and he turned. Another beauty looked up at him and smiled. “Jasmine is

beautiful. Are you Carlton?”

He replied, “And you are?”

“I’m Lavender, her cousin. Has Brody arrived?” Lavender wore a bright yellow empire waist gown with layers of sheer fabric flowing in the night breeze. Her hair piled high on her head with shimmering gold ribbons entwined between the strands.

“He and his men are still setting up camp. He’s told me a great deal about you. Brody is a good wizard, loyal and true.”

“I like you, Carlton. But a warning, Jasmine recently experienced heartbreak. But she’s looking forward to seeing you. Please, be patient with her.”

He clenched his fists at the thought of someone touching the woman he intended to mate. “What happened?”

She rolled her eyes. “I can read your thoughts. Nothing happened but her heart is broken just the same.”
“Excuse me.”
He glanced at the fortune teller’s tent. The mortals made an exit, and he entered, closing the fabric door behind him. He bowed before Jasmine, and she blushed. “Did you give them a true reading or one they needed to hear.”

Jasmine looked up and smiled. “One they needed to hear. Would you like a reading?”

“No, but I will pay for your time.” He reached into his side pocket and deposited several gold coins.

Shaking her head, she said, “I’m not taking your money. But I will take a hug. How have you been old friend?”

He swept her into his arms and hugged her tightly. She placed her head on his shoulder and began to cry. He lifted her chin with his hand. “Hey, what’s this? Why the tears? I thought you’d be happy to see me?”

Sniffling, Jasmine brushed away the tears with the back of her hand. “Let’s take a walk. There’s too many people with ears of bats around here.”

He chuckled and snapped his fingers. They reappeared at his camp with a tent fitted for a king. “Wine?”

“Carlton, I can’t be in your tent. It’s not proper.”

“I won’t tell if you won’t. Besides, we have complete privacy here. Please, sit and have a glass of wine with me. What may I do to help alleviate your sadness?”

She took a silver goblet of wine and lowered on a mountain of large cushions. “I fell in love with a mortal.”
“I really enjoyed reading Antique Mirror. It was quick, light, but with some suspense. Because it’s a short read, the suspense parts are minimal, but works well with the story. The pace is very fast, so there is never a dull moment. I happily give this book a 5-star rating! Highly recommended to those who like quick reads with a little suspense and romance.”
