Godless (Netflix)

Godless is a seven episode limited series. The cinematography is incredible.

The old west primary narrative is a feud between outlaw Roy, and his would be pappy, Frank, but it’s the women of Labelle that steals their thunder.

The series would’ve been better if they had focused on the women’s characters and left the men as secondary roles.

Merritt Wever and Michelle Dockery performances were outstanding.

The Sheriff McNue character meanders in circles.

Lots of violence.

It had so much potential, but overall, I give the series a B-.

Dragons Don’t Cry: Dragon Shifter Romance (Fire Chronicles Book 1) by D’Elen-McClain

Description: A dragon shifter, a curse, and a woman with attitude.

One pint sized human female who’s had too much to drink, not enough sleep, and absolutely no patience meets one stubborn dragon shifter with a chip on his shoulder.

Bastian claims Acasia, his unwilling bride, after she spends the night carousing with friends. She’s not happy, he’s pissed off, and with a curse from a goddess thrown in, you’ll see Bastian breathe fire.

Add secrets, treasure, and unimaginable heartbreak for an emotionally humorous read and discover why Dragons Don’t Cry.

This book contains adult situations.

My Review:

This is the first book in the series and first book I’ve read from D’Elen-McClain. I thoroughly enjoyed, Dragons Don’t Cry, a magical journey about a dragon’s one hundred year claiming to a feisty yet innocent bride, Acasia.

At first, Acasia is repulsed but she’s also intrigued by the Dragon. She finds out his secret and finds herself falling for him.

Bastian is tired of the curse. He’s sick of the never-ending cycle of life and loss vowing never to fall in love again.

The rituals and rules are thrown out the window as Bastian and Acasia’s romance blooms.

Shifters, Vampires, Dragons, and a Goddess add layers to the narrative as the storyline evolves.

Will Bastian give up his greatest treasure for love?

Well, that my friend, you must read for yourself.

Writing Myths: fact or fiction?

We take everyday experiences for granted in life when in fact those experiences are quite extraordinary.

I’m a Christ follower who enjoys developing and writing creative narrative into parallel or fantastical worlds so we may cheer for the right things in life and defeat the bad the ones.

While some individuals may surmise myths are make-believe, I see that myths associates with the truth.

Writing is merely an attempt to weave the divine truth into make-believe worlds.

I’m thankful for the chance. It’s brought many individuals into my life that I would’ve never met otherwise.

Shifter’s Magic (The Wolvers Book 8) Kindle Edition by Jacqueline Rhoades (Author)

I apologize for not posting for awhile but I have been working hard on my new book.

But that’s for another post.

I haven’t read many shifter books but I love Jackie’s writing style and downloaded her new book, Shifter’s Magic (The Wolvers Book 8) by Jacqueline Rhodes.

Description:

Magic is found in the heart…

For Olivia Dawson, there’s nothing magic about the holidays. They’re only a convenient excuse to return home to her wolver pack where she can lick her wounds before she moves on. She won’t have to admit the truth. She won’t have to ask for the forgiveness she doesn’t deserve. She’s made so many mistakes, but the worst was leaving the wolver who shared her heart. That’s a mistake that can’t be fixed. Love lost can never be reclaimed.

As far as Brad Seaward is concerned, Livvy Dawson can’t move on soon enough. It doesn’t matter if his wolf comes alive at the sight of her. Once burned, twice shy is Brad’s motto and that hot little wolver burned his dreams to ash. Sure, he always knew it would end that way, but knowing didn’t take away the pain. So why take a second chance when the outcome will be the same?

But this is Gilead, a place with a magic all its own, where hearts are warm, secrets are hard to keep, and pack comes first. There’s shifter magic in the air as the Alpha’s Mate enlists the help of those around her to bring these two lovers back together – with a bonus for the pack.

My Review:

I stayed up way into the wee hours of the morning to finish Shifter’s Magic. I love the chemistry between Brad and Livvy, and how the community of Wolver’s cared for each other, especially the ending!

I’ve read several of the author’s books and adore her writing style. Action. Romance. Humor.

Highly recommend this one night read!

Carlton walked through the bustling festival reminiscent of the Renaissance.

Along the hillside, mage members set up camp with elaborate tents for the week long event. Torches dotted the landscape casting a buttery glow while the smaller tents and booths decorated the Glen offering wares and services from spells to silks to jewel encrusted wands and swords.

A wide array of flavors and aromas wafted throughout the main drag along with a variety of specialty drinks and brews for the revelers.

Magic games and challenges added to the fun. Witches and wizards wore colorful costumes with family crests.

Carlton spotted the young and beautiful Jasmine, the fortune teller under a bright red and gold tent with yards and yards of multi-colored fabric draped at the entrance.

Her silky black hair draped her shoulders, and her green eyes seemed to glow in the night.

He inwardly groaned at the thought of kissing her delectable lips as red as wine so full and sensual.

He watched as she hypnotically weaved a tale of enchantment to the mortals sitting in front of her.

Someone touched his elbow, and he turned. Another beauty looked up at him and smiled. “Jasmine is

beautiful. Are you Carlton?”

He replied, “And you are?”

“I’m Lavender, her cousin. Has Brody arrived?” Lavender wore a bright yellow empire waist gown with layers of sheer fabric flowing in the night breeze. Her hair piled high on her head with shimmering gold ribbons entwined between the strands.

“He and his men are still setting up camp. He’s told me a great deal about you. Brody is a good wizard, loyal and true.”

“I like you, Carlton. But a warning, Jasmine recently experienced heartbreak. But she’s looking forward to seeing you. Please, be patient with her.”

He clenched his fists at the thought of someone touching the woman he intended to mate. “What happened?”

She rolled her eyes. “I can read your thoughts. Nothing happened but her heart is broken just the same.”
“Excuse me.”
He glanced at the fortune teller’s tent. The mortals made an exit, and he entered, closing the fabric door behind him. He bowed before Jasmine, and she blushed. “Did you give them a true reading or one they needed to hear.”

Jasmine looked up and smiled. “One they needed to hear. Would you like a reading?”

“No, but I will pay for your time.” He reached into his side pocket and deposited several gold coins.

Shaking her head, she said, “I’m not taking your money. But I will take a hug. How have you been old friend?”

He swept her into his arms and hugged her tightly. She placed her head on his shoulder and began to cry. He lifted her chin with his hand. “Hey, what’s this? Why the tears? I thought you’d be happy to see me?”

Sniffling, Jasmine brushed away the tears with the back of her hand. “Let’s take a walk. There’s too many people with ears of bats around here.”

He chuckled and snapped his fingers. They reappeared at his camp with a tent fitted for a king. “Wine?”

“Carlton, I can’t be in your tent. It’s not proper.”

“I won’t tell if you won’t. Besides, we have complete privacy here. Please, sit and have a glass of wine with me. What may I do to help alleviate your sadness?”

She took a silver goblet of wine and lowered on a mountain of large cushions. “I fell in love with a mortal.”
“I really enjoyed reading Antique Mirror. It was quick, light, but with some suspense. Because it’s a short read, the suspense parts are minimal, but works well with the story. The pace is very fast, so there is never a dull moment. I happily give this book a 5-star rating! Highly recommended to those who like quick reads with a little suspense and romance.”
